Most US and Canadian patients complete the surgical phase of All-on-4 in about five days in Costa Rica, then return months later for the final prosthesis. Here is a practical trip timeline so you know what to expect before you book flights.
Before You Travel
Share recent X-rays or CBCT scans when possible, complete your remote consultation, and confirm medical history (medications, diabetes control, smoking). We finalize your provisional plan so day one focuses on confirmation—not starting from zero.
Day 1 — Arrival and Clinical Confirmation
Arrive in San José, settle into your hotel near Escazú, and visit the clinic for exam, imaging review, and final treatment confirmation. Ask questions about anesthesia, soft-food diet, and follow-up timing. Rest well; surgery is typically the next day or shortly after.
Day 2 — Surgery and Same-Day Provisional Teeth
Implants are placed and a temporary full-arch prosthesis is attached for eligible cases. You leave with fixed temporary teeth the same day in many treatment plans. Expect swelling and a soft diet; your team gives written aftercare instructions before you leave.
Days 3–4 — Check Visits and Recovery
Short clinic visits fine-tune bite comfort and review healing. Stay near the clinic, ice as directed, and avoid strenuous tourism for a few days. Light walks are usually fine; zip-lining and hard exercise can wait.
Day 5 — Clearance to Fly Home
Final in-trip check, medication review, and travel clearance. Most patients fly home with temporary teeth and a clear soft-food plan. Keep our WhatsApp/email channel open for questions during the first weeks of healing.
Months Later — Final Prosthesis Visit
After osseointegration (often around six months), you return for the definitive prosthesis. This second trip is usually shorter. We plan both visits around your US or Canadian schedule so you are not left guessing.
